Medical Journey Up-Date

We had a very good trip to the Children's Hospital in Cincinnati Ohio to see Annalise’s specialists. The doctors were very pleased as to how well she has healed since surgery in 2008. She was given a great prognosis for the future. It was so promising to hear good news. God has blessed us in so many ways. Thank goodness he reevaluated the situation and only gave us as much as we could handle.

Annalise’s special need is on a spectrum and she was put on the good side of the spectrum. During our time in Ohio her digestive system was monitored everyday by x-ray she proved again that she was doing very well. We have come home on a new program consisting of the combinations of laxatives, fruit pectin and a strict diet. There should be a disclaimer that this comes with utter frustration trying to find the right dose and diet. After 3 weeks we are still struggling. She woke up a few days ago at 2:45 am to us the bathroom. Poor thing thank goodness we were both able to go back to sleep.

She is being such a trooper and trying so hard to make this work I am not ready to throw in the towel. The alternative lets just say is not that great technology has not come very far for these kids and is definitely not blog material. But we learned that too while we were there and it works like a charm.

Since being home I have had to lean on her teachers to help me figure all this out. Her preschool/daycare has been great I met with all of her teacher this week and they were so supportive and understanding I couldn’t do this without them. Communication is the key. It’s hard sometimes for people to understand hidden disabilities like hers so it is important for me to be open and honest with them as to why she has to go through all this.

After speaking to the nurse again yesterday we are now adding constipating food back into her diet bananas and white rice. This girl is in heaven. For the past 2 years Annalise has only been given white rice and bananas on special occasions now she get to have them on a regular basis. Ah white nectar from the motherland sure makes all this tweaking a little bit better.

We had plenty of time to enjoy Cincinnati meet new friends and spend time with great blog friends. Here are some of our favorite moments.
